At Fodder School, we demystify the magic of mixed media art. It’s not just about creating beautiful pieces (though you will)—it’s about discovering that YOU have what it takes to create art that surprises, delights, and even wows you.

What is Fodder School?
Lessons That Light You Up: From “make fodder” sessions at the start of the month to “use fodder” projects mid-month, you’ll have plenty to keep your creative gears turning (and your art supplies well-loved).
Step-by-Step Guidance: Not sure where to begin? We’ve got you covered. Whether you’re holding a paintbrush for the first time or you’re a seasoned mixed-media maven, these lessons are designed to help you grow.
A Community That Feels Like Home: Think of it like your favorite crafting table—but online, with artists from all over the world who totally get your washi tape obsession. Encouragement? Check. Meet up once per month in our optional Zoom meeting and share information with the community and ask the teacher questions in person. Can’t attend? No worries! Recordings go into the classroom. Ask questions and share your work if you’d like to 24/7 in either the Teachable classroom or the optional Facebook group.
Freedom to Explore: No grades, no pressure, no “you have to do this right.” Fodder School’s mixed media and collage art workshops are your space to experiment, play, and embrace imperfection.

Fodder School 1 is no longer offered on Willa Workshops as of October 1st 2025
Due to some initial planning oversights, the contract with the Fodder School 1 teachers ran out on this bundle of 11 classes. Although we've since launched three more years of incredible Fodder School courses (with Fodder School 5 coming up soon), the original 11 Fodder School 1 projects still hold their weight to this day. I see on Instagram all the time new and old students alike going through and working on these lessons—they're truly timeless!
Just so I'm absolutely crystal clear, retiring simply means these classes won't be available for NEW registrations. If you already own Fodder School 1—or purchase it before it officially retires—you'll continue to have lifetime access.

Fodder School FAQs

None of the Fodder Schools are prerequisites for the others, so you can start with any year you’d like.
However, if you want to join a large, active community and follow along with monthly lesson releases, we would strongly recommend starting with the current Fodder School.

Fodder School is a year long program featuring 11 in-depth projects released monthly. In addition to these lessons, members receive the full Fodder Challenge and lifetime access to all course content.
The Fodder Challenge is a month-long creative event that happens in October each year featuring 11 quick projects, one from each instructor and is a great way to experience what Fodder School is like at a much lower cost. Unlike Fodder School, however, students only have access to the Fodder Challenge for a limited time.

There are no refunds on online courses

You will have “Lifetime” Access to all classes unless otherwise mentioned—"Lifetime" is relevant to the lifespan of the Willa Workshops business (I don't plan on leaving anytime soon!) or the longevity of the technology.

All Willa Workshops lesson content is prerecorded video. Once your purchase is complete, you will have instant access to the classroom, and are free to work through the content at your own pace
You can access Teachable and watch the lessons in your browser (PC, Mac, Android) or the Teachable app for iOS (recommended for iPhone and iPad)

No, at least not available as local downloads to your device. The Teachable app for iOS may allow you to download lessons for offline playback.

That's a hard no.
There's an endless amount of incredible art tutorial content in every Willa Workshops course. For some creatives, it's tempting to want to use these videos as a well of inspiration for their own creative enterprise, YouTube channel, brand, etc.
Willa Workshops Courses are not sold with permission for anyone to use it in this way--specifically, as a source of inspiration for any one's free how-to social media tutorial content, whether that be on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok or any other social media platform.
If you are a creative who loves to share your work with the world, that's wonderful! I love it when participants share their finished projects in photos and videos on social media. Please tag me @willa.wanders, I'd love to support you!
But making how-to videos of yourself while creating from the lesson content or obviously inspired and derivative of Willa Workshops course content, and then posting those tutorials on any free social media platform, will get you banned from Willa Workshops with no refund issued.
All Fodder School videos, documents and other associated content are the property of Fodder School. Duplication, modification, distribution, transformation, or reproduction of any part of Fodder School educational content (i.e., filming yourself creating a Fodder School lesson or lessons in whole or in part and then posting your video on social media) is a violation of copyright and may result in your removal from Fodder School or legal action against you.
